EIMA working group meetings

The working group meets online every two months. We regularly invite expert speakers to present on different topics. Some of the topics we've covered to date include: sustainability and mine action in Afghanistan, remediation of demolition sites, waste management, alternatives to open burning and detonation, climate change adaptation.

Next meeting

Our next EIMA meeting will be on Wednesday 29 January 2025. This will be an extended hybrid in-person and on-line meeting to plan EIMA activities and strategy for 2025 onwards.

The key aim of this extended session will be to reflect on the focus of the group and plan future objectives and opportunities.

We appreciate this is a long session for those only able to join via ZOOM, but there is a lot to cover. We have split the agenda into 3 sessions, so please feel free to join as appropriate:

• Session 1: 11:00 to 12:30 UK. Welcome and introductions, review of EIMA actions, general progress and capacity across mine action

Lunch break: 12:30 to 13:00

• Session 2: 13:00 to 15:00 UK. Organisational outputs and key outstanding needs. To cover specifics of key initiatives being carried out, planned activities or research outputs, and challenges

Coffee break: 15:00 to 15:15

• Session 3: 15:15 to 17:00 UK. Lessons learnt from the recent review of the Gender working group, EIMA admin/structure (including Terms of reference, potential for WG funding, dedicated roles, recruitment of NMAAs, frequency/format of meetings), priority EIMA actions for 2025
